The Miss Bixby Scholarship Pageant is in its 31st year. This pageant is designed to help the young women of Bixby High School further their education, express their talents in many different ways and teach them to become great role models for the younger girls. They also learn more about themselves as they compete and make new friends and wonderful memories. The Optimist club and Pageant committee strive to maintain a top notch pageant that the community can be proud of and the contestants enjoy being a part of. We award over $3,500 in scholarship to our young women. They also receive gifts and gift certificates from many of our local merchants.
The "Miss Bixby Scholarship Pageant" will be held on Saturday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. Main Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Auditorium Doors at 6:55 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person.
The Bixby Optimist Club relies on local businesses to fund scholarships for the finalists and winner of the pageant. All donations are tax deductible. All sponsors receive ads in our program distributed to 500 attendees of the pageant. Click here for sponsor levels. The four divisions of the pageant competition are: Interview, Street Wear, Talent and Evening Gown. A panel of qualified judges work independently to rank each contestant on a 1-10 scale for each phase of competition. In the scoring system, a total of 100 percentage points is possible: 35% for Interview, 15% for Street Wear, 15% for Evening Gown and 35% for Talent. At the completion of each competition, the judges sign and submit their score sheets to the official pageant auditors. The results are not known until the auditors have tallied the total points from each phase of competition for each contestant. The contestant with the highest total points wins the title of Miss Bixby.

All contestant applications are due. Turn in to Terry Sorrells at the Bixby Public Schools Administration Building, 109 N. Armstrong in Downtown Bixby by 4pm.

| Sunday, February 7th, 2010 at 2pm |
Mother/Daughter Tea at Rivercrest. Contestants may bring mothers, grandmothers or a special friend to attend this MANDATORY meeting. Contestants will have photos taken for the program by photographer Jim Curtis. Dress appropriately as if for a job interview: skirts, dresses, slacks and blouses, etc.

Contestant Meeting at Rivercrest. Contestants will have hair and make-up sessions, practice walks and turns, practice mock interviews, sign-up for talent rehearsal times, request lighting and microphone for talent performances, and get tickets to pre-sell for the pageant. Meeting includes a Fashion Show featuring examples of apparel for the pageant. Dress appropriately as if for a job interview: skirts, dresses, slacks and blouses, etc. Bring or wear shoes with heels to practice walks and turns.

Contestant Meeting at Rivercrest. Final mock interviews, more practice on walks and turns. Contestants must have their talent finalized and will submit it for approval by the pageant committee. Dress appropriately as if for a job interview: skirts, dresses, slacks and blouses, etc. Bring or wear shoes with heels to practice walks and turns.

Pre-Pageant "Paris" Party at Rivercrest. Will watch last year's pageant on DVD. Pageant committee will be available to answer any questions contestants may still have. Popcorn and refreshments will be served. Casual dress.

| Friday, April 2, 2010 - ALL DAY |
Contestant Rehearsal Day at the Bixby High School Auditorium. Individual talent rehearsals are from Noon to 5pm, contestant pizza party from 5pm-5:30pm, and full pageant rehearsal will be from 5:30pm-9:30pm with audio, lights and stage decorations. Ticket pre-sale money will be due today.
